Case Reports

Have you met Vanessa Allen? Vanessa has been running supervision with Provisional Psychologist Hub since we were founded. Hear first hand from Vanessa on her upcoming group supervision sessions and why they are important to your pathway.

An important part of our role as psychologists is being able to write extensive and useful reports when assessing and providing an intervention for our clients. As part of the internship the Board requires this skill to be extended as a Competency. A common theme among provisional psychologists is not understanding the specific writing style, requirements and a fear of having reports rejected by the supervisor or Board after all the work they have put into them. By attending training specific to this requirement, it can increase knowledge and understanding, build report writing skills and enhance confidence in the process. It is also a good refresher for generally registered psychologists who would like to build their skills in this area.

Why is this group important?
The development of strong report writing skills is imperative as a psychologist. This group addresses each area of writing a report and previous feedback has indicated that supervisees feel more confident about getting started after attending the group.

How do you recommend supervisees prepare for the group?
To prepare for this group, bring along something to take notes with, feel free to raise any questions you may have, and enjoy the process. Review the section of your guidelines on case reports (referred to as case studies in the 5+1 internship program guidelines), and if you have access to it, review the Provisional Psychologist Hub professional development or e-handbook from Provisional Psychologist Hub on case reports.

How can group supervision enhance learning and development for provisional psychologists?
Group supervision is a fun and interactive way to learn and share experiences, you can also identify other supervisees that you may want to connect with who share common interests.

What client population will the group supervision focus on?
This group supervision session is suitable for all populations.

Who do you recommend attends the groups supervision?
All provisional psychologists undertaking a 4+2 or 5+1 internship program would benefit from this session, particularly those who have begun or are about to begin the case report writing competency.
